A Local Government Resource Guide launch
Monday 7 July

Online, Zoom
The work local councils do affects all our lives, the lives of future generations, and papatūānuku. WEAll Aotearoa is pleased to invite you to the Policy for the Public Good: A Local Government Resource Guide launch event.
At the launch you’ll hear from some amazing folk who led case studies featured in the Guide, including Jo Miller, CE of Hutt City Council and Sophie Jerram Director at Letting Spaces. They will share about their process and behind the scenes. Sally Hett, Knowledge and Engagement Lead will share more about the report and where to from here, with time for Q+A.
In the guide, we share eight big questions that local government needs to be addressing with 104 common sense policies ideas and 80 examples of leadership in Aotearoa and overseas. The purpose of this guide is to provide local government candidates and council staff with the information and tools to build local economies that work for people and planet. Citizens too can use the guide to understanding what’s possible for their communities and to inform questions of candidates.
This Guide was prepared with the generous input from 50+ organisations and people committed to an Aotearoa where caring, creative and connected communities thrive in a flourishing natural world.
