April 2026 Pānui

In these turbulent times, we believe it is more important than ever to chart a positive future.

New Zealand faces fossil fuel and extreme weather crises on top of long-standing cost of living, poverty, and inequality crises. The Edelman Trust Barometer recently found that fewer than one in five New Zealanders (17%) believe the next generation will be better off than today.

Our economy is deeply fragile. Decades of short-term decision-making have left New Zealanders increasingly exposed, and it is time for a new economic blueprint, not just more band-aids.

We have just launched Blueprint for Prosperity: 10 Missions for a Wealthier, More Resilient Aotearoa, and we would love your help getting it into as many hands as possible.

It calls for a mission-led approach to the economy, setting out 33 evidence-based policies to build an Aotearoa that is wealthier in every sense, not just as measured by GDP.

Gareth sat down with Herald NOW Business to talk about why now is the moment for bold economic change. Watch it below.

It is often in times of crisis that systemic change becomes possible. At WEAll Aotearoa, we want to seize this moment to shift our economic direction towards the wellbeing of our people, our communities, and te taiao.

This policy guide is just the beginning. We are working on a practical alternative to our broken, business-as-usual economic system and laying out the steps to get there.

The economy was designed, and together, we can redesign it. Please forward this pānui to one person you think should read it.

Ngā mihi nui,
Gareth and the WEAll Aotearoa team
